I'm thinking of buying my significant other one of those pocketbooks made out of cigar boxes for a birthday present. It started out being a joke, but then I realized that she might just enjoy having one. Does anyone here actually have one and use it? I'd get her something else, too. |

Where did you see that, JustRoll? I could see my wife being into something unique like that, but I don't know where to look for them. |

I would think it depends on what it looks like and if she's the "type" to enjoy a novelty gift like that. Plenty of recycled, material-based totes can be cute; others look like they belong on a 5-year-old. Make sure yours is the former. |

This sounds like one of those things that could go either way. If done right, it could be really nice. If not, it could be really silly. Did you end up buying one, JustRoll? |

I've seen wonderful museum quality cigar boxes turned into great purses with a vintage feel. I think it was in a museum in Boston or Salem in one of the museum gift shops. It's been five or six years, so my memory's a little vague. We did bring home one of the purses made from chewing gum wrappers. It was quality all the way, with a price to match. |

I liked this idea when I first heard about it, so I tried making one for my gal for her birthday. Boy, did I screw that one up. I used the wrong kind of glue and shellac. Plus I left it outside to dry and the wind must have blown sand into it. I didn't even let her see it. I'm wondering if I should try again. |

Oh my, I think she'll like it, at least I would be happy with such a lovely gift. Good luck with this idea! |

My better half has just told me that she wouldn't mind having a Cohiba Behike after the holiday party. So I guess, I'll be having a smoking partner this time. |
