I inherited the loveliest cigar box from my grandmother. I used to admire it, so she always said it would be mine. It's redwood, I think, and it does lock. When you open it up, it has the loveliest picture inside the lid. Are these items common? Or have I happened upon a gem?

I don't know whether it's a gem or not (a picture would help), but... did your granny smoke cigars?

Yes, it's difficult to say without a picture. Post it when you have a chance so that folks here could help you understand how lucky you are
Do you happen to know how old this box is?

It could be both a real jem and just a nice thing but it still remains a gift from your grandmother, keep it as a memory of her...

I think it's a beautiful precious thing you should keep as a memory of your grandmother, don't try to sell it!

It's a gem already, since you got it from your grandmother.
